Job summary

Sainsbury's Tech is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to set the bar for AI engineering across the division. This is a hands-on role that touches every Tech domain, building reusable patterns and defining standards to deliver AI capabilities at scale.

You will work across Customer, Channels, Supply Chain and Logistics, Argos, Data and AI Ecosystem, pairing with delivery teams, leading forums, and guiding architecture toward secure, observable, and responsible AI across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with LLMs, generative AI and agentic systems.
• Strong Python and cloud-native development skills.
• Experience operating in large enterprise environments with security and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Define and champion reusable AI engineering patterns, accelerators, and reference architectures.
• Translate proven engineering workflows into reusable skills and agents to standardise delivery.
• Work across Tech domains to identify duplication and reduce cost of AI solutions.
• Lead technical discovery and feasibility assessments for high-priority AI opportunities.
