Job summary

The Supply Register is recruiting Teaching Assistants to join Plymouth Cast Trust Bank, offering both full-time and part-time roles across multiple year groups. You will work closely with classroom teachers to support learning, prepare materials and help create an inclusive, safe environment for all students.

Experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential. Strong communication, patience and empathy are key, as is the ability to adapt to different classrooms.

Qualifications

• Experience as a teaching assistant or similar support role is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers and parents.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting student learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with lesson delivery and prepare resources and materials.

The Supply Register is a managed service working in partnership with Plymouth Cast Trust, operating across 34 locations in Cornwall, Plymouth, Devon, Exeter and Dorset.

Position Overview

Teaching Assistants will work closely with classroom teachers to support students across a range of age groups and abilities, providing essential assistance with classroom activities and fostering a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers with lesson delivery and set up resources and materials.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small group support to students needing additional assistance.
• Support students with special educational needs by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations.
• Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure smooth classroom operations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar support role is preferred, though not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, teachers and parents.
