Job summary

Shropshire Council is seeking an enthusiastic Catering Manager for a busy primary school. You will oversee food preparation, stock management, and the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of presentation and service setup.

This role runs Monday to Friday, 7.30am–3pm, term time only plus 3 cleaning days. 35 hours across 44.98 weeks per year, with a focus on compliance and allergen management.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering management within a school or similar setting.
• Knowledge of allergen management and food safety requirements.
• Ability to lead and develop a small kitchen team.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee food preparation, portion control and presentation.
• Manage stock, ordering and wastage to meet budgets.
• Lead the kitchen team and allocate duties.
• Ensure service setup and cleanliness meet standards.
