Johnson Controls in the UK is seeking an experienced Sprinkler Installation Engineer to join our Fire Suppression Delivery team. You will install and commission water-based, gas, foam, and hydrant systems on safety-critical projects.

This hands-on, site-based role suits a mechanically minded engineer who prioritises safety, delivers high-quality work, and is prepared to travel across the UK with a company van.

Qualifications

• Proven experience installing and commissioning fire suppression systems.
• Strong mechanical background, including pipework, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, commission, and hand over mechanical fire suppression systems, including Wet, Dry, Pre-Action, Deluge, and Hydrant systems.
• Carry out system flushing, pressure testing, flow testing, and functional testing in line with approved procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve installation, performance, and commissioning issues on-site.
• Support pre-commissioning inspections, system demonstrations, and final client acceptance testing.
• Ensure all installations are completed in line with approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant industry standards.

The role We are seeking an experienced Sprinkler Installation Engineer to join our Fire Suppression Delivery team, working on complex and safety-critical projects across the UK. This role will focus on the installation and commissioning of fire protection systems, including water-based, gas, foam, and hydrant systems. This is a hands‑on, site-based position suited to a mechanically minded engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, prioritises safety, and enjoys solving technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

• Essential to be able to install, test, commission, and hand over mechanical fire suppression systems, including Wet, Dry, Pre-Action, Deluge, and Hydrant systems.
• Carry out system flushing, pressure testing, flow testing, and functional testing in line with approved procedures.
• Diagnose and resolve installation, performance, and commissioning issues on-site.
• Support pre-commissioning inspections, system demonstrations, and final client acceptance testing.
• Ensure all installations are completed in line with approved drawings, project specifications, and relevant industry standards.

Work Environments

The role will involve working across a variety of projects, from small works to major contracts. Work may be carried out on live construction sites or directly within customer facilities, including warehouses, food production facilities, offices, and other operational environments. Plan and execute work safely and efficiently, minimising risk and disruption to live systems and site operations.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Maintain full compliance with company and site Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Review and produce site‑specific RAMS where required.
• Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, industry standards, and customer requirements.
• Promote and demonstrate a strong safety‑first culture on every project.

Collaboration & Reporting

• Build effective working relationships with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Customers, and Subcontractors.
• Provide accurate progress updates, technical feedback, and commissioning support throughout project delivery.
• Assist with snagging activities, system optimisation, and post-handover technical support when required.

Travel & Working Away

Travel extensively across the UK using a company service van. Be willing to stay away from home when required. Demonstrate flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during planned shutdowns or commissioning periods when necessary.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven experience installing and commissioning fire suppression systems.
• Strong mechanical background, including pipework, valves, pumps, and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work to project deadlines and manage competing priorities.

Desirable

• Knowledge of fire protection standards and approvals, including LPC, NFPA, FM, BS, and EN standards.
• Experience with fire pumps, control valves, and system interfaces.
• CSCS card or equivalent qualification.
• Additional safety certifications such as Confined Space, IPAF, or PASMA.
• Other relevant construction or site‑based qualifications.
• SSSTS certification.
