Job summary

Johnson Controls is recruiting a Project Engineer – Fire Suppression to lead installation delivery across the UK region. You will supervise subcontractors, ensure quality and safety, and drive customer satisfaction while coordinating with regional managers.

The role requires hands-on leadership of field teams, strong organisational skills, and experience in fire suppression systems. A full UK driving licence and willingness to work across Northwest or Yorkshire are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an installation environment is essential.
  • Proven experience supervising or managing engineering teams.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence is required.
  • Experience with Mechanical Fire Suppression systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of LPCB BS12845 and NFPA standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line leadership to a team of subcontractors to ensure high-quality delivery of fire suppression installation projects.
  • Report to regional managers and drive performance, growth, and customer relations.
  • Lead installation delivery, quality and Health & Safety standards on site.
  • Manage your financial work bank and support cost optimisation.
  • Coordinate subcontractors on site and monitor defects and documentation accuracy.
  • Plan manpower and equipment to meet timelines and budgets and conduct safety audits.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Engineer, you’ll provide first‑line leadership to a team of subcontractors, ensuring high‑quality delivery across fire suppression installation projects. Reporting to the Head of Regional Install UK / Contracts Manager UK, you’ll help drive performance, support strategic growth, and maintain strong customer relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading installation delivery, quality, and Health & Safety standards
  • Managing your own financial work bank and supporting cost optimisation
  • Coordinating subcontractors on site
  • Monitoring defects, scope deviations, and documentation accuracyPlanning manpower and equipment to meet project timelines and budgets
  • Conducting regular safety and quality audits
  • Supporting team development through performance assessments and annual appraisals
  • Managing workload to maximise productivity and forecast accuracy
  • Preparing reports and programmes for senior management
  • Liaising with Credit Control to minimise disputes and support timely invoicing

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience supervising or managing engineering teamsStrong organisational and communication skillsAbility to build, motivate, and develop high‑performing teamsA full UK driving licenceExperience with Mechanical Fire Suppression systemsIdeally 3+ years in the Fire/Sprinkler industryGood PC literacy, including Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of LPCB BS12845 and/or NFPA standards (preferred)
