Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Project Engineer – Fire Suppression to lead installation activities across the Northwest or Yorkshire region. The role is field based, with opportunities to drive project delivery, safety compliance and team performance in a dynamic environment.

You will coordinate subcontractors, manage budgets, and ensure quality standards while developing your team and progressing projects on time.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within an installation environment.
  • Proven experience supervising or managing engineering teams.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to build, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Leading installation delivery, quality, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Managing your own financial work bank and supporting cost optimisation.
  • Coordinating subcontractors on site.
  • Monitoring defects, scope deviations, and documentation accuracy.
  • Planning manpower and equipment to meet project timelines and budgets.
  • Conducting regular safety and quality audits.
  • Supporting team development through performance assessments and annual appraisals.
  • Managing workload to maximise productivity and forecast accuracy.
  • Preparing reports and programmes for senior management.
  • Liaising with Credit Control to minimise disputes and support timely invoicing.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a great fit if you bring:

  • Experience working within an installation environment
  • Proven experience supervising or managing engineering teams
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to build, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Experience with Mechanical Fire Suppression systems
  • Ideally 3+ years in the Fire/Sprinkler industry
  • Good PC literacy, including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of LPCB BS12845 and/or NFPA standards (preferred)
