ROLE SUMMARY:

Ivy House School, located within Golders Hill Park in Hampstead, is a distinguished co-educational, non-denominational school for children aged 2-11. The school fosters a nurturing environment that encourages individuality and a love for learning.

We seek an experienced Teacher of Sport to teach children of all abilities, inspiring enthusiasm and helping them reach their potential in physical education. We uphold high standards and believe that challenge promotes academic success. Our school also boasts strong pastoral care, contributing to the success and happiness of our pupils. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Teach Physical Education, Sport, and Gym lessons according to curriculum guidelines and promote sports activities throughout the year.
2. Plan and prepare lessons in advance, ensuring alignment with curriculum targets.
3. Monitor and report on student progress, including parent meetings.
4. Follow school policies on child protection, behaviour, and health and safety.
5. Deliver effective lessons in gymnastics, netball, football, rugby, rounders, cricket, tennis, and swimming.
6. Organize and manage fixtures and sports events for students of all abilities.
7. Maintain safety standards for resources and renew as needed within budget.
8. Participate in lunch and playground duties as scheduled.
9. Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
10. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
11. Act as the first point of contact for parents regarding PE, Gym, and Sports.
12. Represent the department in school activities and organize extracurricular sports clubs.
13. Coordinate annual sports events, including sports day and cross country.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Teacher.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• PE Degree and PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Ability to prioritize and work independently.
• Enthusiasm for inspiring children.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of best teaching practices and current learning strategies.
• Understanding of children's educational needs.
• Passion for sports and involvement in extracurricular activities.
• Appreciation of cultural diversity.
