Job summary

NHS Dumfries & Galloway is recruiting a SPOC Cancer Coordinator in the Oncology Department. You will be the named contact for a defined caseload from referral through diagnosis and treatment, coordinating diagnostics, clinics and MDT meetings while guiding patients, families and carers with sensitive information.

You will collaborate with Cancer Nurse Specialists, booking teams and partner agencies, maintain accurate records, and contribute to the evolving SPOC service across regional cancer

Qualifications

• Experience in health or social care, supporting people with complex needs.
• Experience in a cancer care environment.
• SVQ 3 in Health/Social Care or Customer Engagement (or equivalent).
• Ability to undertake learning at SCQF level 8.
• Competent IT user (Microsoft Office, clinical systems).
• Willingness to undertake communication skills training.

Responsibilities

• Act as a named point of contact for a defined caseload from referral onwards.
• Provide timely appointment coordination for diagnostics, clinics, MDT meetings, treatment and follow-up.
• Offer clear, accurate and sensitive information and support to patients, families and carers.
• Liaise with Cancer Nurse Specialists, booking teams and wider partner agencies.
• Maintain high-quality patient records and support pathway data.
• Assist patients to access support networks and services across sectors.
• Use triage frameworks to assess needs and escalate concerns.
• Contribute to audits, service evaluation and development of the SPOC service.
