Job summary

West Pier Studio is seeking a creative and technically minded 2D Spine Animator for a Fixed Term / Freelance role. The position is hybrid in the UK and requires attendance on agreed studio days.

You will create polished animations across slots, casino, instant win, and casual games, collaborating with artists, producers, and developers to deliver high-quality gameplay experiences. Opportunities to shape animation standards and adopt AI-assisted workflows are available.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience creating 2D animations for games or related digital entertainment.
• Strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating Spine 2D animation.
• Experience rigging, skinning, keyframes and export workflows in Spine 2D.
• Understanding of animation principles, timing and player feedback.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted creative tools for animation production.
• UK-based and able to attend the office on agreed hybrid days.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality 2D animations using Spine 2D for gameplay features and UI.
• Rig, animate, optimise, and export production-ready assets for web-based games.
• Develop gameplay animations, UI transitions, and player feedback to enhance game feel.
• Collaborate with artists, designers, developers, producers, and stakeholders.
• Review animations against direction, technical feedback, and gameplay needs.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to support ideation and production workflow.
• Support organised workflows, file management, and production standards across projects.
• Maintain organised Spine asset libraries and production-ready assets.
