Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 speech and language support for a KS1 pupil in Brentwood.

Starting January 2027, this full-time, long-term role offers daily rate £95–£110 and the chance to make learning accessible through personalised support and inclusive strategies. You will deliver individualized learning, support SLT activities, adapt tasks to the pupil’s communication needs, and help build confidence and participation in class.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in primary settings or SEN contexts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, adaptable and encouraging in learning.
• Interest in speech and language development; knowledge of Makaton or visuals is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised learning and communication support.
• Support speech and language activities under staff guidance.
• Adapt tasks to meet the pupil's communication needs.
• Encourage participation and social interaction in lessons.
• Share observations with the class teacher.

Are you a Teaching Assistant with an interest in speech, language and communication development?

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 1 pupil with speech, language and communication needs in a primary school in Brentwood.

Starting in January 2027, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships with pupils and finding creative ways to make learning accessible.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing individualised learning and communication support.
• Supporting speech and language activities under the guidance of school staff and relevant specialists.
• Adapting classroom tasks to meet the pupil's communication needs.
• Encouraging participation in lessons and social activities.
• Supporting the development of confidence, independence and friendships.
• Sharing observations and progress with the class teacher.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience supporting children in a primary school, nursery or SEN setting.
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be patient, encouraging and adaptable.
• Have an interest in speech and language development.
• Understand the importance of creating an inclusive learning environment. Knowledge of communication tools such as Makaton or visual supports would be advantageous but is not essential.
