Long Term Futures Ltd is recruiting a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with ASD and SLCN in Barnet. You will deliver 1:1 speech and language support, develop vocabulary, and implement visual communication strategies to aid understanding and interaction.

The role emphasises patience, processing-time allowances and collaboration with teachers, SENCo and specialists in a long-term temporary contract with weekly pay.

Competenze

• Experience supporting speech, language and communication needs.
• Autism (ASD) experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, visual communication or SALT programmes would be advantageous.
• Understanding of receptive and expressive language difficulties.
• Patient and comfortable allowing children additional processing time.
• Previous SEN or primary school experience preferred.
• Graduate with Psychology, Linguistics or Speech & Language and relevant child-based experience encouraged to apply.

Do you have experience helping children find the confidence and tools to communicate?

Long Term Futures is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with Autism (ASD) and speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) at a welcoming junior school in Barnet. Communication will be central to this role. You'll help the pupil understand language, express their needs and develop their communication skills, while recognising how communication difficulties can also affect emotional regulation and classroom engagement.

The Role
