Job summary

Orbital South Colleges Group is seeking an experienced Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) Practice Lead to shape high-quality support for learners with dyslexia and related profiles across the college group. You will lead development and delivery of specialist SpLD provision to create an inclusive learning environment.

You will oversee screening, exam access arrangements, assistive tech usage, and manage a caseload of learners, including those with EHCPs, while line-managing a team of SpLD

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification is required.
• Teaching qualification at Level 4 or above.
• Level 7 SpLD Assessor or equivalent Exam Access Arrangements qualification (CPT3A, PATOSS or PAPAA) preferred.
• Experience supporting learners with SpLD in an education setting.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of specialist SpLD provision across the College Group.
• Coordinate interventions and monitor impact with curriculum teams and support services.
• Oversee screening/assessment processes and exam access arrangements.
• Manage a caseload of learners, including those with EHCPs, and line manage SpLD/learning support staff.

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) Practice Lead to provide specialist leadership across our colleges. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop high-quality support for learners with dyslexia, dyscalculia and related specific learning profiles, helping to create an inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.

As our SpLD Practice Lead, you will lead the development and delivery of specialist SpLD provision across the College Group, ensuring learners receive effective, targeted and inclusive support. You will work closely with curriculum teams, support services, safeguarding colleagues and external professionals to identify learner needs, coordinate interventions and monitor impact. The role includes overseeing screening and assessment processes, leading exam access arrangements, supporting the effective use of assistive technology, managing a caseload of learners, including those with EHCPs, and line managing a team of SpLD and learning support teachers.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a highly organised and learner-focused professional with:

• A degree or equivalent qualification.
• A teaching qualification at Level 4 or above.
• A Level 7 SpLD Assessor qualification or equivalent Exam Access Arrangements qualification (such as CPT3A, PATOSS or PAPAA).
• Experience supporting learners with specific learning difficulties within an educational setting.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
• Experience of exam access arrangements and reasonable adjustments, including JCQ requirements.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and inclusive practice.
