Job summary

Queen Alexandra Charity is hiring a Cover Tutor in Harborne, Birmingham. The role is 36 hours across 39 weeks with salaries banded by status and experience (£25,401.60–£31,847.04 per year). You will teach students with complex needs, plan differentiated lessons, and tutor groups while aligning with EHCP goals and college expectations.

Qualifications

• Level 2 English language and maths qualification is essential.
• Experience of differentiating learning for learners with complex needs.
• Strong organisation, communication and ICT skills.
• Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, plan, and assess the curriculum with a highly individualised approach.
• Plan, assess and record learner achievements against EHCP targets.
• Deliver teaching aligned with professional standards and EHCP goals.
• Prepare schemes of work and differentiated lesson planning.
• Lead sessions with timed, scaffolded and sequenced learning; monitor progress.
• Contribute to curriculum development and resource management.
• Evaluate curriculum quality and contribute to improvement plans.
• Support PSHE and pastoral welfare as a group/personal tutor.
