Job summary

Esteem South Academy is seeking a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to support pupils with challenging needs, in class and during break times. You will work with groups or individuals, following direction from the class teacher or Head of School, in a small, supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting.
• An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in class to engage in learning, and at break and lunch times.
• Work with small groups or one-to-one as directed by the class teacher or Head of School.
• Be prepared to deliver lessons during staff absence and contribute to the site running smoothly.
