Job summary

Esteem South Academy is seeking a flexible, committed Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to support permanently excluded or at risk pupils. You will assist in classrooms, work with small groups and individuals, and help pupils engage in learning across primary and secondary ages.

A DBS check is required and safeguarding is central to the role. The post requires daily car access for transport and home learning activities.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have good knowledge and experience of working with disaffected pupils in a school or other alternative setting.
• An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties is an essential quality for this challenging but rewarding opportunity.
• Applicants should be resilient, have high expectations, and a sense of humour.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in class to engage in their learning.
• Support pupils at break and lunch times.
• Work with small groups or with pupils on a one-to-one basis as directed by the class teacher or Head of School.
• Be allocated to a tutor group and contribute to site smooth running, potentially delivering lessons in staff absence.
