Job summary

Coventry City Council is seeking a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils across Little Heath Primary and Parkgate Primary venues in Coventry. This term-time-only role sits within the Social, Emotional, Mental Health and Learning Team, delivering tailored support, running small-group and individual interventions, and travelling to pupils' home schools as needed.

Excellent behaviour management, resilience and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • We are looking for someone who demonstrates resilience, empathy and patience in a school setting.
  • Candidates should be able to build relationships quickly and stay positive and solution-focused.
  • Experience in a primary school or service setting is preferred; willingness to develop SEMH skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the teacher in delivering the curriculum and targeted interventions.
  • Work with small groups and individuals to improve behaviour and learning outcomes.
  • Model supportive strategies and travel to support pupils at their home school when required.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom environment and teamwork.
