Start date: May 2025.
Contract length:
Minimum July 2026.
Location: Cardiff
Hours:
Mon to Fri 08:15am- 15:15pm.
Pay:
£14-£15 per hour.
term time only.

Are you a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive individual with a passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and high-impact Specialist Provision Base, supporting students with a variety of learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and complex needs.

This role is based within a secondary school in the Cardiff area. You will be responsible for working with pupils aged 11-16 who are in a specialised unit and have access to lifeskills education and the national curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to pupils aged 11-16 with EHCPs and additional needs.
  2. Support students with physical care, including mobility and hygiene where required.
  3. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (SENCOs, therapists, and family services).
  4. Adapt and scaffold learning under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  5. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment tailored to individual needs.
  6. Use tools like PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, or sensory play (training provided if needed).

About You:

You’ll thrive in this role if you are:

  1. Empathetic, patient, and emotionally intelligent with strong behaviour support skills.
  2. Experienced (professionally or personally) with children or adults with ASD, ADHD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or complex learning difficulties.
  3. A great team player who communicates well with pupils, staff, and families.
  4. Passionate about inclusive education and driven to break down barriers to learning.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
