Job description

Behaviour Support Assistant - Oxford

Are you passionate about supporting young people in making better choices? Are you looking for a role that will allow you to be a role model?

A lovely school in Oxford is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant to join them in the new academic year. They are looking for someone to support their students in the everyday runnings of the classroom and help the school day run smoothly.

Your role as a Behaviour Support Assistant is important as you will be responsible for supporting the classroom as a whole, while also being a right hand for the students. The students in this setting have had a complicated home life and struggle with mental health needs as a result. This often manifests as behavioural needs, as these students try to navigate their way through their academics while learning to manage their mental health.

In this role, you will support the students in coping with their emotions as well as regulating and processing them in ways that are beneficial, so that any challenging behaviour may be worked through in healthy ways. You will make use of any interventions that the class teacher has in place, as well as follow any restorative practices.

If you are looking for a role in which you can make a difference and gain valuable experience, then this is the role for you! Criminology graduates and psychology graduates will benefit hugely from a role like this, but we also welcome applications from anyone who wants to give back.
