Job summary

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in Lowestoft is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to support adults with learning disabilities within the Adult Community Learning Disability Service. The role involves autonomous work across homes, residential and day services, with a postgraduate dysphagia qualification being essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (mandatory).
• Postgraduate dysphagia qualification required.
• Experience with people with a learning disability.
• Experience in multidisciplinary settings and delivering teaching or training.

Responsibilities

• Assess communication needs using standardised and non-standardised assessments.
• Assess, diagnose and provide intervention across speech, language and communication needs.
• Provide assessment and intervention for dysphagia.
• Devise, deliver and monitor treatment plans with service users, carers and families.
• Work with service users, carers and family to centralise co-production in care.
• Develop and deliver training and support packages for family and carers.
• Provide assessment and intervention as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Be clinically and legally accountable for own work and caseload management.
• Obtain and record informed consent per Trust policy, MH Act, MCA and DoLs.
• Contribute to Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
• Report observations and assessments in writing; attend clinical meetings and contribute to discussions.
