Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves is recruiting a dedicated Primary Class Teacher for a specialist SEN school in Hackney. The role involves planning and delivering differentiated lessons, collaborating with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and a multidisciplinary team to support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties and complex needs.

The successful candidate will promote communication, independence, social and academic development, while maintaining strong behaviour management and teamwork with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
• Experience teaching in a primary setting; SEN experience is highly desirable
• Understanding of Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and strategies for supporting pupils with complex needs
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons suited to individual learning abilities
• Experience supporting communication, sensory, and developmental needs is desirable
• Strong classroom management and behaviour-support skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work alongside Teaching Assistants and other professionals
• Patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach
• Genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs achieve their potential

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to implement personalised learning programmes
• Support pupils' communication and sensory needs, and monitor their progress
