Ribbons & Reeves is seeking an SLD Teacher to lead a Primary or Early Years class in a specialist SEN school in Hackney, East London. You will nurture communication, independence and learning in a supportive environment.

The role suits experienced SLD teachers or those moving from mainstream primary or EYFS into SEN, with a patient, adaptable and enthusiastic approach and a strong commitment to inclusive education.

Ribbons & Reeves are working with a specialist SEN school in Hackney, East London, seeking a dedicated SLD Teacher to lead a primary or Early Years class. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurturing, creative and committed teacher who wants to help pupils develop their communication, independence and learning skills in a supportive specialist environment.

Whether you have previous experience in an SLD setting or are a mainstream primary or EYFS teacher looking to move into special education, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

• Lead teaching and learning for a primary or Early Years class of pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils' individual abilities, needs and EHCP outcomes.
• Support the development of communication, sensory awareness, social interaction and independence.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and other professionals to provide consistent, personalised support.
• Create a safe, structured and stimulating learning environment where every pupil can make progress.
• Adapt activities using practical resources, sensory approaches and appropriate communication strategies.

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching in primary, EYFS or a specialist SEN setting.
• A patient, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to supporting children with additional needs.
• A genuine commitment to inclusive education and helping pupils achieve their individual potential.
• Strong classroom management, teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience with SLD, PMLD, autism, non-verbal pupils, PECS or Makaton would be advantageous, but is not essential for the right candidate.
