Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a Specialist Pharmacy Technician ESM / E&T to support medicines management and staff development across hospital sites in Leicester.

The role covers training, CPD governance, dispensary and ward support, with focus on patient safety and high quality care within the CMG Lead Pharmacist framework. Band 5, with rotation across Leicester Royal Infirmary, General Hospital and Glenfield.

Qualifications

• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Society (GPhC).
• BTEC or NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Qualification or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
• Training Qualification or TAQA/A1 NVQ assessor qualifications or equivalent.
• Working towards TAQA award or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to all aspects of pharmacy technician, assistants and support staff training and assessment.
• Support the technical aspects of pharmacist training and ensure competency to meet GPhC standards.
• Provide a range of clinical and ward services under the direction of the CMG Lead Pharmacist.
• Improve quality of care through efficient medicines management including drug history taking, use of patient’s own drugs, dispensing, counselling and discharge coordination.
• Support monitoring of training, appraisal, registration and CPD for all staff.
• Undertake dispensary based duties as required.
