The Orchards is a nine bedded recovery unit for people with longer term mental health problems. It is situated near the picturesque cathedral city of Ripon. It is only 45 minutes from Leeds and York.
We aim to help people to manage and recover from mental health problems. We will encourage service users to take part in social activities and therapeutic groups to help them to learn daily living skills.
The purpose of our service is to service users gain greater independence and follow a healthy lifestyle, in order to achieve a good quality of life within the community.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a competent, confident, and enthusiastic full time Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join the Orchards rehabilitation and recovery team. Occupational therapists play a crucial role in supporting individuals recover from mental ill health. OT is an essential part of the Orchards MDT.
You will access wider support from the occupational therapy network in TEWV, to develop a way of delivering a high quality, needs-led OT service, utilising core occupational therapy skills to ensure all of the people we work with have a robust occupational therapy assessment and intervention plan.
Is professionally accountable for own occupationally complex therapy caseload, working autonomously to deliver occupational therapy 1-1 and/or in groups, in a variety of settings (which may include the people who use our services' own home).
Seeks guidance for highly occupationally complex cases from the relevant more senior occupational therapist as appropriate.
Undertakes complex and noncomplex occupational therapy assessments,co-creates occupational therapy goals, and delivers occupational therapyintervention.
Reviews occupational therapy intervention in collaboration with people who use our services and family as part of the Multidisciplinary Team to promote independence and wellbeing.
Obtains people who use our services consent (or appropriate legal alternative) for occupational therapy intervention, using autonomous professional judgment in complex situations ensuring that all people who use our services remain at the centre of decision making and are fully safeguarded.
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist in TEWV you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, assessing occupational performance and delivering specialist occupational interventions, demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values at all times and operating as a leader in the team, service and organisation

The post holder will provide evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and interventions as part of the OT Pathway and offer input to individuals, their families and carers.
All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the people we work with and their families/carers.
Clinical/Professional supervision is provided by the supervising Occupational Therapist as identified by the relevant Lead OT. The postholder will attend OT Learning and Governance Networks to ensure fidelity to core occupational therapy delivery, enhance CPD and contribute to the wider OT service developments.
You must be able to demonstrate experience of delivery of occupational therapy, keenness to continually develop themselves and others, and a particular interest in this field of OT. We will support use of transferrable skills from a range of clinical settings.
There are varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal.
