Wakefield Council is seeking a Senior Specialist Learning Support Officer to work across educational settings, supporting inclusive practices for pupils with SEN and contributing to the Graduated Approach to SEND.
You will join central cluster teams covering the district, delivering targeted interventions, modelling good practice, and providing specialist advice to schools, families and other agencies while safeguarding all young people.
Successful candidates will work across educational settings and provisions, alongside the advisory teacher, to support inclusive practices for pupils with SEN. The work will include fulfilling the Team Around The School initialtive, bringing services and support together for Wakefield children and families., Senior Specialist learning support officers undertaking the outreach role to mainstream schools will be asked to run groups, model good practice, undertake pupil observations and assessments that contribute towards the Graduated Approach to SEND. In addition this may include support to resource provisions, who educate pupils with an EHCP.
What will be expected from me? The successful candidate will work within the central cluster teams covering the Central, North West and South West areas of the district, but may work in other areas depending on service need. We are looking for a motivated individual who can provide excellent support to students with complex needs. This may be delivering learning/interventions to groups/individuals with complex needs. This may be supporting pupils to access mainstream lessons.,
The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.
In accordance with the Council Probation Procedure, this post is subject to a 6-month Probationary Period.
To comply with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), public facing roles will be subject to the Fluency Duty.
