Wakefield Council is recruiting Youth Support Workers to help shape positive futures for young people aged 11 to 24 across Wakefield. You will engage young people through group work, one-to-one support, centre-based provision, and community activities.

Youth Support Workers play a key role in developing and delivering a wide range of support, activities, and opportunities for children and young people aged 11 to 24. Working alongside colleagues, partner organisations, and local communities, the postholder will engage young people through group work, one-to-one support, centre-based provision, community activities, and detached (street-based) youth work. The role focuses on helping young people achieve positive outcomes by improving access to employment, promoting health and wellbeing, and connecting them with local services and opportunities. Through building positive relationships, offering guidance, and delivering targeted interventions, the Youth Support Worker will support young people to develop resilience, confidence, social skills, and independence. The postholder will work collaboratively with schools, colleges, training providers, employers, and community partners to identify and promote education, training, volunteering, and employment opportunities. They will actively support young people to access and sustain these opportunities, helping them reach their full potential. A key aspect of the role is ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard and reflected in service design, delivery, and evaluation. The Youth Support Worker will advocate for young people, encourage their participation, and support the wider team to demonstrate positive outcomes and impact.,

You will work collaboratively with colleagues, partner organisations, and local stakeholders to provide high-quality support and ensure young people have safe, rewarding experiences that help them thrive.

Probation In accordance with the Council Probation Procedure, this post is subject to a 6-month Probationary Period.
