Job summary

Riverbank Academy in Coventry is seeking a dedicated Specialist Learning Support Assistant to support teaching staff and help develop learners’ educational provision. You will plan and deliver targeted interventions, monitor progress, and maintain records of pupil outcomes.

The role requires literacy, numeracy and ICT enthusiasm, with a Grade C in English and Maths, and experience supporting ages 11–19 with SEND. Training and progression opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Desire to improve literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
• Grade C in English and Maths.
• Experience leading lessons in community, mainstream or special school.
• Commitment to learning through organisational structures.
• Able to support students aged 11–19 in moving and handling and personal care.
• Effective communication with students, staff and parents.
• Experience with groups of young people with complex SEND, preferably secondary age.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement agreed interventions with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom.
• Deliver programmes of support to smaller groups with minimal supervision.
• Monitor and record pupil responses to learning activities.
• Record achievement and progress through planned observations.
