Job summary

Hednesford Valley High is looking to appoint a committed, resilient and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to support young people to achieve their potential and gain valuable experience towards future teaching status.

The successful candidate will supervise classes during short-term absences, working with teachers and support staff to maintain high standards of learning, behaviour and wellbeing across our Cannock

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or special school setting.
• Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel between sites.
• Willing to train as Mini-bus driver.
• Ability to establish positive and professional relationships with students and staff.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Calm, adaptable and able to work on own initiative.
• Commitment to inclusion and supporting students with additional needs.
• Organised, reliable and able to maintain accurate records.
• Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, delivering work that has been set by teaching staff.
• Support students to engage positively with their learning and achieve their individual targets.
• Promote a calm, purposeful and inclusive learning environment.
• Manage student behaviour in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.
• Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other personalised learning strategies.
• Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and encouraging confidence, independence and resilience.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student participation, progress and behaviour.
• Complete attendance and reward tracking.
• Use ICT, learning resources and specialist equipment appropriately to support learning.
• Respond effectively to any immediate issues or emergencies, following school procedures.
