Job summary

Hednesford Valley High School is seeking a committed Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated team. You will supervise classes during short-term absences, ensuring learning continues in a positive, safe environment, and work closely with teachers and support staff to maintain high expectations for student learning and behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in education or a special school setting.
• Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel between campuses.
• Willing to train as a Mini-bus driver.
• Ability to establish positive professional relationships with students and staff.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Calm, adaptable and able to work on their own initiative.
• Commitment to inclusion and supporting students with additional needs.
• Organised, reliable and able to maintain accurate records.
• Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, delivering work that has been set by teaching staff.
• Support students to engage positively with their learning and achieve their individual targets.
• Promote a calm, purposeful and inclusive learning environment.
• Manage student behaviour in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.
• Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other personalised learning strategies.
• Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and encouraging confidence, independence and resilience.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student participation, progress and behaviour.
• Complete attendance and reward tracking.
• Use ICT, learning resources and specialist equipment appropriately to support learning.
• Respond effectively to any immediate issues or emergencies, following school procedures.

Working closely with teachers, support staff andsenior leaders, you will play an important role in maintaining highexpectations for students' learning, behaviour and wellbeing while contributingto our inclusive school community.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
