Job summary

Carrington West is representing a South East London Local Authority seeking a Special Projects Contract Manager to lead procurement and management of high-risk, safety-critical contracts across its residential housing portfolio.

The role focuses on fire safety, compliance and external wall systems, overseeing investigations such as FRAEWs, Fire Risk Assessments and façade/render assessments. Initial 6-month contract with daily rates of £450–£500 (Umbrella).

Qualifications

• Strong social housing experience with track record in end-to-end procurement and contractor management.
• Experience procuring and managing high‑risk, safety‑critical contracts.
• Knowledge of fire safety, EWS, FRAEWs and façade assessments in housing portfolios.

Responsibilities

• End‑to‑end procurement: specs, tendering, evaluation, award and mobilisation.
• Manage contractors to KPIs, budgets, specifications and milestones.
• Oversee commercial management: cost control, forecasting and value for money.
• Oversee fire safety and external wall investigative works across multiple buildings.
• Support legal teams with contractual evidence and claims for defective works.
• Support Cladding Safety Scheme and other funding applications.
• Provide risk management and clear senior stakeholder reporting.

A South East London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Special Projects Contract Manager to lead the procurement and management of high‑risk, safety‑critical contracts across its residential housing portfolio.

We are looking for someone with strong social housing experience who can demonstrate a track record of both procuring contracts end‑to‑end and subsequently managing contractors, performance and delivery.

The role will have a particular focus on fire safety, compliance and external wall systems (EWS), overseeing investigative programmes including FRAEWs, Fire Risk Assessments, spandrel panel investigations and façade/render assessments.

Key responsibilities will include:

• End‑to‑end procurement, including specifications, tendering, evaluation, award and mobilisation
• Managing contractors against KPIs, specifications, budgets and programme milestones
• Commercial management, cost control, forecasting and ensuring value for money
• Overseeing fire safety and external wall investigative works across multiple buildings
• Supporting legal teams with contractual evidence and claims relating to defective works
• Supporting Cladding Safety Scheme and other funding applications
• Managing risks and providing clear reporting to senior stakeholders

We are particularly interested in candidates with strong contract management experience within social housing, combined with demonstrable procurement experience.
