Job summary

Grange C of E Primary School in Grange-Over-Sands is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to support children on a 1:1 and small group basis, including those with special educational needs, across nursery to KS2. You will work alongside teachers to deliver tailored support and nurture a safe, inclusive environment.

This part-time maternity cover role (18.5 hours/week) requires collaboration with the SENCO, delivering IEPs and EHCPs, and promoting safeguarding throughout.

Qualifications

• Qualifications: Level 3 or Level 2 Teaching Assistant.
• Experience of working with children or young people in an educational setting.
• Experience across Early Years, KS1 and KS2.
• Understanding of SEN including autism, ADHD, speech and language, or social and emotional needs.
• Flexibility and adaptability to diverse student needs.
• Awareness of trauma-informed practice: safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment.
• Patience, empathy and a passion for supporting all children including those with SEN.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, including SEMH, ADHD and autism.
• Assist with implementing IEPs and EHCPs.
• Adapt and prepare learning materials under teacher direction for accessibility.
• Foster independence and positive behaviour using individualised strategies.
• Contribute to assessments and feedback."
• Follow safeguarding, behaviour and health and safety policies.
• Collaborate with staff and families to support pupils’ needs.
• Support and align with the school’s Christian vision and values.
