Job summary

Teachers UK is seeking a patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream school in Bolsover, helping pupils with additional needs access learning. This is a full-time, long-term position with 1:1 or small group support, a strong safeguarding focus and access to CPD opportunities through a dedicated consultant.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN TA.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND in mainstream settings.
  • Understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language needs.
  • Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
  • Enhanced DBS on update service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Adapt learning activities to different learning styles.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons.
  • Help manage behaviour with consistent strategies.
  • Encourage engagement, independence and confidence.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teacher and wider support staff.
