SUPPLYGO LTD in Tamworth is recruiting a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to support children with Special Educational Needs in a welcoming school. The role offers a mix of full-time, part-time and ad hoc shifts across ages 5–18, including students with SEMH, ASD and other learning needs.

You will assist with lesson activities, support individual learning plans and behaviour strategies, and help pupils develop reading, writing and communication skills in a caring, trauma-informed

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities.

  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence and confidence.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.

Job description

SupplyGo are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Tamworth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and making a positive impact within the classroom. We are looking for staff to work on a mix of full-time, part-time, and adhoc/day-to-day working schedules in the school. You could be working with students aged between 5 & 18 years of age, and whether you've worked in schools before or not, we'd love to hear from anyone with transferrable experience. The school provides specialist education for up to 80 children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as neurodiverse profiles, communication and interaction differences, and cognition and learning challenges. The school features:

  • Small, carefully matched classes, each led by a dedicated teacher and supported by a teaching assistant.
  • A welcoming, nurturing environment with well-equipped classrooms, multi-purpose areas and dedicated sensory spaces.
  • Highly trained and experienced staff specialising in trauma-informed practice, integrated communication and relational approaches.
  • A broad and balanced curriculum focused on developing essential skills in reading, writing, numeracy and communication, while providing pupils with access to a rich and varied learning experience., Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Support students with additional needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Help implement individual learning plans and behaviour strategies
  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
  • Support students with emotional and behavioural needs where required Previous experience working with children with SEN/SEND is essential
  • Experience within a school, care, or support setting preferred
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt support to individual pupil needs
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service preferred (or willingness to obtain one)
