Job summary

Darlington Middle School is seeking an Exceptional Education Shadow for the 2026-2027 school year. This 183-day position offers a base salary of $21,874, with duties to support a teacher in supervising and instructing students with special needs in the general education setting.

The candidate must have an associate degree or higher (or a high school diploma with Ready to Work Credentials) and pass the state-approved assessments or equivalents.

Qualifications

• An associate degree (or higher) is required.
• High School Diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Ready to Work Credentials are required.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable per Board approval.

Responsibilities

• Acts as mandated reporter to ensure student safety.
• Adapt activities and materials to support and reinforce objectives and IEP goals.
• Administer tests and oversee assignments to support student needs.
• Assist students with personal care and daily transitions.
• Communicate with staff to relay progress and IEP objectives.
• Escort students to ensure safe arrival and transitions.
• Implement interventions under teacher supervision to reinforce learning.
• Monitor daily schedule and behavior plans for safety and order.
• Provide instruction to students in various activities to support access to least restrictive environment.
• Supervise students in different settings to maintain a safe learning environment.
