Job summary

Water Lane Primary Academy invites applications for a Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant. The role supports children with diverse needs including EHCPs, working alongside the class teacher to raise achievement and confidence.

The successful candidate will have experience with SEND in primary settings, a Level 2 qualification in play work/childcare, safeguarding knowledge, and a Paediatric first aid qualification (desirable).

Qualifications

• At least one year's experience of working with SEND children in the primary age range.
• Experience of working with children in a friendly, busy environment.
• An understanding of children with SEN needs.
• Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures.
• Have a sympathetic understanding of the emotional, social and intellectual needs of children with special educational needs.
• Motivated to work with children with special educational needs and to inspire confidence in them.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering learning activities to children with SEND.
• Work with individuals and small groups to implement EHCP objectives.
• Promote inclusive practice and monitor progress.
• Maintain a calm, supportive classroom environment.
