Job summary

Water Lane Primary Academy wishes to appoint a Special Education Needs Learning Support Assistant. The LSA will support children with EHCPs and needs including Speech and Language, ADHD, SEMH and Autism, under the guidance of the teacher.

You should have at least one year of SEND experience in the primary age range, plus a Level 2 qualification in play work/childcare. Paediatric first aid is desirable, with strong safeguarding knowledge and a sympathetic approach.

Qualifications

• At least one year of SEND experience in primary education.
• Experience in a busy school environment.
• Understanding of SEN needs and safeguarding procedures.
• Knowledge of EHCPs and child safeguarding guidance.

Responsibilities

• Support children with a variety of needs, including EHCPs, under the teacher's guidance.
• Use initiative to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.
• Help maintain a calm and supportive environment for pupils.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to support pupil progress.
