Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Special Education Classroom Assistant to support students with disabilities in elementary and high school settings. The role involves one-on-one tutoring, personal hygiene assistance, mobility support, and helping implement IEP goals under teacher supervision.

The position requires a valid TASN paraprofessional license (ISBE) or equivalent, with a path to paraprofessional exam if needed. CPR training is highly desirable and training is provided as required.

Qualifications

• Possess valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE or equivalent
• 60 college credit hours or paraprofessional exam completion
• CPR training is highly desirable and may be required later

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction of students with disabilities per IEPs
• Provide one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene support
• Assist with mobility aids, feeding, and daily living tasks as needed
• Record student behavior and assist with coursework and homework
• Support field trips and classroom activities
