Job summary

Randstad Education in the Southampton area is seeking a motivated Cover Supervisor to support secondary schools during teacher absences. Ideal for graduates aiming to become teachers, you will supervise lessons, maintain order, and help students stay on task.

Fixed hours 8:30-3:30, term-time only, with opportunities to gain classroom experience and progress toward PGCE or SCITT programs while developing confidence in behaviour management and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Degree level or higher education qualification.
• Practical experience working with young people, such as tutoring, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or volunteering.
• Confidence, strong communication abilities, resilience, and a positive, proactive attitude.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for a new one).

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (Key Stages 3 & 4) across various subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.
