Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking enthusiastic Cover Supervisors for Southampton-area secondary schools. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, term-time only, providing stable routines for students while you gain classroom experience.

Ideal for graduates and aspiring teachers, this role lets you supervise KS3–KS4, deliver pre-set work, and build confidence before applying for PGCE or SCITT programs. DBS Update Service preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree level or higher qualification; recent graduates encouraged.
• Experience: Practical experience with young people (tutoring, youth work, mentoring, volunteering).
• Skills: Confidence, strong communication, resilience, proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school students (KS3 & KS4) across subjects during teacher absences.
• Maintain a positive, orderly, and productive classroom environment where students feel supported.
• Deliver prepared work set by the department and ensure students stay on task.
• Collect completed work and provide constructive feedback on student progress and behaviour.
• Uphold school policies regarding behaviour management and safeguarding at all times.
