Job summary

Amber Employment Services is seeking an experienced Sous Chef in Wokingham to support the Head Chef, lead the kitchen when needed and deliver high-quality, fresh-food dishes. The role offers real responsibility within a busy kitchen and opportunities to develop management and culinary skills.

You should bring experience as a Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie, plus excellent cooking, presentation, organisation and a teamwork mindset. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Chef de Partie within a fresh-food environment.
• Strong cooking and presentation skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
• Experience with stock control and ordering.
• A good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• A positive, hands-on and team-focused approach.
• Ambition to continue developing kitchen-management experience.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Leading the kitchen confidently when required
• Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard
• Maintaining quality and presentation throughout service
• Supervising and supporting junior members of the kitchen team
• Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising waste
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards
• Helping ensure smooth and efficient service during busy periods
• Working closely with the wider kitchen and front-of-house teams
• Contributing ideas and supporting ongoing menu development
