Job summary

Wadworth's The Barge Inn, set beside the Kennet & Avon Canal in Seend Cleeve, is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen leadership team. You will support the Head Chef, drive high standards, mentor the team and lead kitchen operations in their absence, ensuring superb food and a seamless service.

You will bring strong culinary skills, a track record of developing staff, and a passion for great food and hospitality.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie is essential.
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for developing people and food.
• Excellent communication abilities to lead kitchen operations and collaborate with front-of-house.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen management.
• Lead, motivate and develop the kitchen team to high standards.
• Prepare, cook and present dishes to specification and quality.
• Manage kitchen operations in Head Chef's absence.
• Assist with menu implementation, stock control, ordering and reducing waste.
• Ensure food hygiene, safety, and health & safety standards are maintained.
• Support recruitment and training of junior chefs and kitchen staff.
• Lead service periods to ensure smooth operations and profitability.
• Collaborate with front-of-house teams to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
