Job summary

Heaton House Farm – Stable Yard Catering is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our busy kitchen team. You will support the Head Chef, manage high-volume wedding and event catering, and help coordinate on-site and off-site services with a hands-on, proactive approach.

Ideal candidates will have experience with high-volume production, strong organisational skills, and the ability to lead a kitchen during busy periods.

Qualifications

• An experienced Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous ready for the next step.
• Comfortable working with fresh food and high-volume service.
• Organised, practical and able to plan ahead.
• Calm and reliable during busy services.
• Happy to take responsibility and support the wider kitchen team.
• Comfortable working both at Heaton House Farm and at external events.
• Able to maintain high standards without needing constant supervision.
• Banqueting, wedding or events experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential if you have the right kitchen experience and are comfortable catering for larger numbers.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Preparing and delivering high-quality food for weddings and events at Heaton House Farm.
• Catering at external venues and events as part of our growing off-site business.
• Helping to plan and organise prep, logistics and service.
• Working confidently across all sections of the kitchen.
• Supervising and supporting other members of the kitchen team.
• Taking responsibility for the kitchen when required.
• Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards.
