Job summary

Heaton House Farm – Stable Yard Catering is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to work with the Head Chef and kitchen team across weddings and events at Heaton House Farm, as well as external venues. This is a 4-day-per-week, permanent, full-time role with a salary from £34,500 depending on experience.

You’ll support daily kitchen operations, prep and service, and supervise team members while maintaining high food safety standards.

Qualifications

• An experienced Sous Chef or a strong Junior Sous ready for the next step
• Comfortable working with fresh food and high-volume service
• Organised, practical and able to plan ahead
• Calm and reliable during busy services
• Happy to take responsibility and support the wider kitchen team
• Comfortable working both at Heaton House Farm and at external events
• Able to maintain high standards without needing constant supervision
• Banqueting, wedding or events experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential if you have the right kitchen experience and are comfortable catering for larger numbers.

• Catering at external venues and events as part of our growing off-site business
• Helping to plan and organise prep, logistics and service
• Working confidently across all sections of the kitchen
• Supervising and supporting other members of the kitchen team
• Taking responsibility for the kitchen when required
• Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards

Heaton House Farm is a busy, family-run wedding and events venue and home to our award-winning catering company, Stable Yard Catering.

Alongside catering for weddings and events at Heaton House Farm, Stable Yard Catering works at venues and events across the region. Our external catering business is continuing to grow, so this is a great time to join the team and be part of developing this side of the business.

We’re looking for an experienced Sous Chef to work alongside our Head Chef and wider kitchen team. It’s a varied role, combining the organisation and consistency needed for busy wedding catering with the opportunity to work at a growing number of external events.

Working pattern

• Predominantly 4 days per week
• Weekends and bank holidays form part of the working week
• Working hours vary depending on our wedding and event schedule
• The role includes both onsite and off-site catering
• We do not work Christmas Day
