Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers PLC is seeking a Sous Chef for the White Lion within Vintage Inns to lead a kitchen section, train staff and step in when the Head Chef is absent to ensure smooth dinner service. This role forms part of a friendly pub group renowned for its warm hospitality and great food.

You will manage ordering, preparation, and stock, while upholding brand standards and health and safety. The role includes progression, pension, 28 days holiday, and staff discounts across brands.

• Train and inspire your team to deliver food to be proud of.
• Support your Head Chef with food ordering, food preparation and stock control.
• Have mastered the art of working with a branded menu.
• Have confidence in managing Chefs and the wider Kitchen Team.
• Oversee that your team conforms to health and hygiene regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a kitchen section and ensure the team works as one.
• Train and mentor staff to deliver high-quality dishes.
• Assist Head Chef with ordering, prep, and stock control.
• Maintain the branded menu standards in all service periods.
• Manage chefs and the wider kitchen team effectively.
• Ensure compliance with health and hygiene regulations.

As a Sous Chef at the White Lion , you will have a passion for serving great food, training great people and leaving a smile on our guests faces. You'll run a section, ensuring your team are working together as one and you will be the person to step up in leading the team in the absence of the Head Chef. Does this sound like you?
