Silkwood Rose Care Home is seeking a committed Sous Chef to join the catering team in Milford. Working with the Head Chef, you’ll prepare nutritious meals, uphold high hygiene standards and help create a positive dining experience for residents.

The role supports day-to-day kitchen operations, menu development, and budget-conscious meal preparation while ensuring dietary and cultural needs are met. A full-time, 38-hour week is offered with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cook or Sous Chef in a kitchen.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present nutritious meals to a consistently high standard.
• Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Ensure meals meet residents' dietary, nutritional and cultural requirements.
• Assist with menu preparation and meal service, ensuring an excellent dining experience.
• Support stock control, stock rotation and the efficient use of ingredients to minimise waste.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.
• Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety legislation and company policies.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.
• Work closely with the care team to meet residents' individual dietary needs and preferences.
• Contribute ideas to improve menus, catering services and the overall dining experience.

Job Summary

Silkwood Rose Care Home is looking for a passionate and dedicated Sous Chef to join our catering team.

Working alongside our Head Chef, you'll help prepare delicious, nutritious meals that our residents look forward to every day. You'll play an important role in delivering high-quality food, maintaining excellent hygiene standards and creating an enjoyable dining experience while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.

Whether you're an experienced Sous Chef, Cook or an ambitious chef looking for your next opportunity, we'd love to hear from you.

We can offer a full time role 38 hours per week and £14.50 per hour.

About the Role

As a Sous Chef / Cook, you will:

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working as a Cook, Sous Chef or in a similar catering role.
• Holds a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or is willing to obtain one.
• Has a good understanding of food hygiene, health and safety and safe food handling practices.
• Is confident preparing fresh, nutritious meals to a consistently high standard.
• Is organised, reliable and able to work effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
• Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues.
• Has previous experience within a care home, healthcare or hospitality setting (desirable).
• Has experience preparing meals for special dietary requirements (desirable).
• Is passionate about delivering excellent food and creating a positive dining experience for residents.
