Job summary

CaterPeople is recruiting a Junior Sommelier for a prestigious 5 Red-Star property with a 3 Rosette restaurant in Newbury. Joining a 7-sommelier team, you will learn from an excellent Head Sommelier and have access to extensive wine references and robust training.

The role offers 45 weekly hours, potential accommodation about 5 miles from the hotel, and clear opportunities for career progression within a renowned wine-focused operation.

Qualifications

• Ability to welcome guests warmly and create outstanding experiences.

Responsibilities

• Manage a section of the restaurant as part of the junior sommelier team.
• Understand the wine list and assist guests with selections.
• Serve wine and beverages to guests, ensuring proper ritual and temperature.
• Maintain the cellar and wine vault, including stock control and dating.
• Support back-of-house duties related to wine service and restaurant operations.

As a Junior Sommelier you will be responsible for:

• A section of the restaurant.
• Understanding the wine list.
• Service of wine and beverages.
• Upkeep of the cellar and wine vault.
• Back of house duties.

You should be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a natural passion for wine and the ability to offer a warm welcome and create an outstanding guest experience.
