Job summary

Focus Group is hiring an IT Solutions Engineer to serve as the go-to technical expert for valued customers and internal teams. The role combines home-based work with 3–4 days on site visiting customers across the Surrey/Sussex area, providing installation, maintenance, and design of ICT solutions.

You will lead projects in your specialist area, mentor colleagues, and collaborate with project management, service desks, and vendors to deliver high-quality outcomes for SMEs and larger enterprises.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an IT support or delivery role.
• Demonstrable subject matter expert-level experience in Networking, Server & Storage or Cloud.
• Specialist knowledge in one technology plus a good general technical understanding.
• Confidence to design solutions within your area of expertise.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Strong desire to grow technical knowledge and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Install or maintain ICT solutions for customers on site or remotely.
• Act as escalation point for your area of expertise and handle complex faults.
• Collaborate with project management, 3rd Line Engineers and Service Desk Agents.
• Lead the delivery of projects and support other engineers on larger assignments.
• Engage in customer calls to discuss needs, scope and design.
• Document site surveys and record customer IT infrastructure thoroughly.
• Design best-practice solutions and document them clearly.
• Work with account management and service teams to deliver project requirements.
• Lead best practice in your specialist area, including training and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor colleagues and provide technical leadership.
