Job summary

Focus Resourcing is recruiting for a Solicitor / Chartered Legal Executive in Private Client to join a well-established Wills & Inheritance team in Reading. The role suits a lawyer with 3–7 years' PQE who wants responsibility and clear career progression in a supportive environment.

You will manage a varied caseload across wills, probate, trust administration and Court of Protection matters while also taking on a broader team role, including mentoring colleagues and contributing to business

Qualifications

• 3–7 years' PQE within Private Client law.
• Strong experience across a broad range of private client matters.
• Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge, particularly around complex estates and tax planning

Responsibilities

• Manage your own varied caseload of private client matters, including wills, probate and estate administration, tax planning, trust administration and Court of Protection matters.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members; supervise, mentor and develop colleagues.
• Contribute to the strategic development of the department and build strong relationships with referrers and professional contacts.
• Support business development, networking and marketing initiatives; raise the profile of the department locally and professionally.

The Role

You will manage your own varied caseload of private client matters, including:

• Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney


• Probate and estate administration


• Tax planning


• Trust administration


• Court of Protection matters

Alongside your own caseload, you will also have the opportunity to take on a broader role within the team, including:

• Providing technical support and guidance to junior team members


• Supervising, mentoring and developing colleagues


• Contributing to the strategic development of the department


• Building strong relationships with existing referrers and professional contacts


• Supporting business development, networking and marketing initiatives


• Raising the profile of the department within the local and professional community

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive


• Have 3-7 years' PQE within Private Client law


• Have strong experience across a broad range of private client matters


• Demonstrate excellent technical knowledge, particularly around complex estates and tax planning


• Have experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior fee earners


• Possess excellent communication and client relationship skills


• Be commercially aware, with an interest in business development


• Be proactive, collaborative and committed to providing an exceptional client service
