Job summary

Osborne Appointments is seeking an experienced Soldering Technician for a well-established client in Wellingborough on a temporary basis to Christmas. Immediate start available; Monday to Friday hours. Role involves soldering and rework tasks within electronics repair environment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with manual soldering, BGA rework, microscopy inspection, and precision hand tools. IPC standards knowledge is a plus, and reliability is essential for this temporary

Qualifications

• Experience with manual soldering methods on surface mount or through hole.
• Knowledge of BGA rework principles desirable.
• IPC 7711/7721 standards knowledge useful.
• Experienced in using a microscope.
• Proven experience in field service or electronics repair, especially soldering or rework.
• Hands-on experience using hand tools in electronics environments.

Responsibilities

• Removal, replacement and reflow of BGA components using an automated hot air convection machine.
• Surface mount land preparation for PCB and ICs using desoldering methods.
• Reballing BGA ICs; removal of solder spheres then attaching new ones using automated equipment.
• Visual inspection for any circuit shorts or insufficient solder after placement process using a microscope.
• Carry out board modifications based on customer specifications
• Maintain strict adherence to quality processes and highlight any gaps or improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and procedures

Duties of a Soldering Technician:

What we would like from you:
