Job summary

Osborne Appointments is seeking an experienced Soldering Technician for a well-established client in Wellingborough on a temporary basis to Christmas. Immediate start available; Monday to Friday hours. Role involves soldering and rework tasks within electronics repair environment.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with manual soldering, BGA rework, microscopy inspection, and precision hand tools. IPC standards knowledge is a plus, and reliability is essential for this temporary

Qualifications

Experience with manual soldering methods on surface mount or through hole.
Knowledge of BGA rework principles desirable.
IPC 7711/7721 standards knowledge useful.
Experienced in using a microscope.
Proven experience in field service or electronics repair, especially soldering or rework.
Hands-on experience using hand tools in electronics environments.

Responsibilities

Removal, replacement and reflow of BGA components using an automated hot air convection machine.
Surface mount land preparation for PCB and ICs using desoldering methods.
Reballing BGA ICs; removal of solder spheres then attaching new ones using automated equipment.
Visual inspection for any circuit shorts or insufficient solder after placement process using a microscope.
Carry out board modifications based on customer specifications
Maintain strict adherence to quality processes and highlight any gaps or improvement opportunities.
