Job summary

Job Advert in Wellingborough is seeking an experienced Soldering Technician to join a well-established client on a temporary basis until Christmas, with an immediate start.

The role involves precise manual soldering, BGA rework, microscope inspection, and adherence to IPC standards, using hand tools and automated equipment. You will support electronics repair tasks and ensure quality throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Experience with manual soldering methods on surface mount or through hole.
• Familiar with BGA rework principles.
• Knowledge of IPC 7711/7721 standards will be useful.
• Experienced in using a microscope.
• Proven experience in field service or electronics repair roles, especially with soldering or rework tasks.
• Hands-on experience using hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, tweezers, and screwdrivers in electronics environments.

Responsibilities

• Removal, replacement and reflow of BGA components using an automated hot air convection machine.
• Surface mount land preparation for PCB and ICs using desoldering methods.
• Reballing BGA ICs; removal of solder spheres then attaching new ones using automated equipment.
• Visual inspection for any circuit shorts or insufficient solder after placement process using a microscope.
• Carry out board modifications based on customer specifications
• Maintain strict adherence to quality processes and highlight any gaps or improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and procedures
